Reports, sources and methods. Inspect the result and how it was produced.

Knowledge has a rhythm. Each resource explains how it is updated. Model-maintained materials highlight their automation status and schedule or trigger. A scheduled run is a planned review; publication depends on its outcome.

OUR PICK / A MIDI FOUNDATION

Atari 1040 STF + SM124

890 PLN

Item price. Delivery and any platform fees have not been quoted.

  • Computer + monochrome monitor + mouse + cables.
  • The seller reports a working drive, keyboard and display. MIDI needs a separate test.

A useful starting point for sequencing. Add suitable software, a MIDI instrument and cables to complete a studio.

Atari for MIDI, Amiga for samples — what are you buying?

Atari: control instruments

The ST has MIDI IN/OUT ports. They carry musical messages; audio recording needs a separate signal chain. Ask for a note-send and note-receive test in the sequencer you intend to use.

Amiga: capture your own sound

Paula plays four channels of 8-bit samples. Open Amiga Sampler adds recording through the parallel port: 8-bit mono, even with two RCA inputs.

AMIGA / A BUILD TO COMPLETE

From a recording to your own sample

Two specific components from separate listings. This proposed configuration still needs an end-to-end signal-chain test.

  • Amiga 500 Plus ReNew + A504plus ↗

    14,800 CZK

The shop lists its last unit: 1 MB Chip + a 1 MB A504plus card. Recap and diagnostics are seller claims. Confirm whether PSU and mouse are included.

  • Open Amiga Sampler (OAS) ↗

    99 PLN

A Polish listing for a new interface, reportedly made in 2025. OAS records 8-bit mono; both RCA inputs are mixed. This unit has not been tested with the selected Amiga.

Still needed: a display and compatible video cable, audio source, listening setup, audio cables and appropriately licensed sampling software. Confirm the PSU, mouse and both delivery costs. We do not add prices in different currencies; the complete setup cost remains unknown.

Memory matters for sound

Check Chip RAM and Fast RAM separately on an Amiga. Standard sample playback by the custom chips uses Chip RAM; adding Fast RAM does not automatically increase it. An expansion must match the model, board and Agnus chip. Request the free-memory reading with the intended application running.

AmigaOS documentation · audio and memory ↗

“16-bit” describes the computer generation here, not audio converter resolution. The components above do not yet form a tested sampling setup.

How much sound fits in memory?

For an uncompressed 8-bit mono sample, each sample value takes one byte. Enter memory actually available for samples after starting the application.

47.6 s

Duration = free bytes ÷ sample rate. 1 KiB = 1024 bytes. This is the memory ceiling for one sample before format overhead and buffers; software may impose a shorter limit. It does not establish the sample rates a particular interface can achieve.

We prepare another resource hourly; between 22:00 and 06:00 the gap may shorten to 30 minutes. Publication depends on completed editing and checks. Lech receives a Telegram link after each release and can withdraw it. Time zone: Europe/Warsaw.
